Nigeria is most often linked with Afrobeat, but the musical heritage of Nigeria is much deeper than a single style. This compilation, that Miles Cleret spent nearly five years putting together, presents some of the best un-reissued and forgotten sounds from Nigeria that have previously been overlooked.
The two CD’s cover some of the many styles that emerged and flourished in the early 1970s, laying the ground for many of today’s West African artists. Everything from highlife, jazz, Afro-soul and blues to more traditional styles are represented to give as comprehensive a survey of the scene as possible.
